Katy ISD Mission Statement

In partnership with parents and community, the Katy Independent School District, as a premier district in the state of Texas, seeks academic excellence for each student to pursue a productive and fulfilling life through a balanced curriculum aligned with quality instruction and assessment of achievement.


The Business of Katy ISD

Katy ISD is a flourishing suburban school district that encompasses 181 square miles in east Texas. Its eastern boundaries stretch to Houston's energy corridor approximately 16 miles west of downtown Houston and extend along Interstate 10 to a few miles west of the city of Katy.

In the 2007-08 school year, student enrollment has grown to more than 55,000 served by 47 schools - including six high schools.

Rated as academically acceptable by the Texas Education Agency, Katy ISD offers an outstanding instructional program with facilities, equipment and materials that are among the best in the state.

* Katy ISD continues to be one of the fastest-growing districts in Texas, with annual enrollment increases in the 6-6.5% range. Projections show a steady upswing throughout this decade, with total enrollment topping 97,000 by Fall 2017.

The 2007-08 tax rate, adopted by the Board of Trustees on September 24, 2007, is $1.5266 lower than the tax rate that was in effect for 2006-07. The rate includes $1.126 for maintenance and operations and $.40 for debt service.
