"Our employees fulfill roles not only as educators, but as caregivers, clerks, maintenance crews, and other professionals supporting the teaching and learning taking place in our classrooms. As superintendent of this great school district I am very honored to be working alongside each and every one of our Katy ISD employees," added Gregorski.

Market research was conducted by Forbes and Statista to identify its first-ever list of America's Best Employers by state. Nearly 200 companies were ranked among the best in Texas, with Katy ISD identified as #22 on the list. A sample of more than 80,000 U.S. employees at companies, with at least 500 people, were surveyed.

|

The additional two percent increase for those teachers and paraprofessionals will derive from an attendance-based performance incentive.

The base salary increase for employees will come in the form of an approximate four percent raise, with two other lump sums during the fall semester— one August 15 for returning staff, and the other in December for all employees.

"After making sure we reward all of our staff, there is some additional money we've set aside to focus on those folks who have the greatest impact on student performance — our classroom teachers," said Ken Gregorski, Katy ISD Superintendent.

The District also plans on providing stability through its benefits package. While some Texas school districts anticipate premium increases this coming school year, Katy ISD will be holding its benefit premiums at last year's rates. Likewise, the District's existing health insurance plans will remain unchanged.

"My commitment upon accepting this position was to focus on taking care of our employees through a competitive compensation package, thus ensuring we're able to recruit and retain the best teachers around," said Gregorski. "This pay increase, alongside the stability in benefits costs, is the most significant investment in Katy ISD's employee compensation package in recent District history," he added.

Katy ISD's move to increase pay for all employees and offer additional compensation incentives for teachers, is in part due to the District's long term fiscal management practices, along with the passage of Senate Bill 500 that provides Harvey related refunds and House Bill 3, with the District's compensation plan exceeding the priorities established by the Texas Legislature.

|
