Safety & Security Resources
A safe learning environment for all students is the top priority of the Katy Independent School District. Assessment, planning, development of protocols, training and evaluation are key components in ensuring that our students' education will not be disrupted by any safety concerns and that our staff are properly trained to respond to any emergency situation.
Bullying of any type is not tolerated by Katy ISD. The definition of bullying, as written in the Texas Education Code, can be found in
Katy ISD's Discipline Management Plan or click here to learn more.
Checking Students Out of School
Katy ISD has established procedures for releasing students from a campus. For details regarding identification, permission and verification for releasing students, speak to campus administration.
Random Drug Testing
The purpose of the Katy ISD Random Drug-Testing Program is to ensure the health and safety of students. It is intended to serve as a deterrent to the use of illegal drugs and/or alcohol by offering students a credible means for resisting peer pressure. This program also affords the District the opportunity to offer support and assistance to any student, who may be using illegal drugs, performance-enhancing drugs, and/or alcohol.
The SafetyNET system allows students to alert district/campus officials of concerns about other students that may include bullying, potential violence, drugs, and weapons without being identified.

Each campus has a school safety liaison that is responsible from planning, mitigating, and responding to safety and security issues. To report a safety and security concern related to school property or a school-sponsored event, call the specific
campus principal or school safety liaison.
The truancy enforcement officers work closely with campus administrators to prevent unexcused absences. However, when all interventions fail, criminal charges are brought against the students or parents who intentionally violate the state compulsory attendance statutes. For more information about compulsory attendance laws, call the Katy ISD Police Department at (281) 237-4000.
Visiting Your Campus
