Christine Caskey, Ed.D, serves Katy ISD as Chief Academic Officer and oversees the Division of Teaching and Learning. The primary function of the Division of Teaching and Learning is to support campuses through the development and implementation of high quality curriculum, research-based instructional practices and programs, and assessments that support student learning. In addition, the Division provides professional learning opportunities for district educators to ensure that they have the content knowledge and instructional skills to effectively deliver and support the implementation of the Katy ISD curriculum. The Division consists of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, the Department of Special Education, the Department of Gifted/Talented and Advanced Academic Studies, the Department of Career and Technical Education, the Department of Other Languages, the Department of Counseling and Psychological Services and includes services provided through compensatory education and federal programs.  While the main focus is supporting high quality, effective first teaching practices, the departments also work together to support the varied needs of the District’s diverse student population.
