    The club will encourage and educate students about the ASL and deaf culture. Students will be able to share their love of the ASL language.

    Best Buddies

    Create a friendship that will last forever! Be paired with a special needs student and foster a friendship throughout the year. Come by Room 1338 for more info. It’s a big commitment and a great organization that creates a friendship that changes both of their lives!

    Bowling Club

    Come have fun and improve your game! Bowling club meets twice a week , once for practice and once for match play at Times Square on Grand Parkway. All bowlers are welcome, no experience required!

    • Fees: $15 for a first-week trial, $100 for the league fee + $40 jersey fee for new bowlers.

    Cheerleading

    Promotes school spirit and positive school climate by participating at athletic events and extra-curricular activities. Cheerleaders are expected to be positive role models, serving as high school ambassadors at school, in the district and community. When not cheering at athletic events or representing the Katy community, the cheer program preps for their own competition season. Cheer competes at UCA/NCA local regional competitions, the UIL state level competition, and NCA high school national competitions. Most recently, Mayde Creek Cheer placed 5th in the 6A Div 1 UIL State Spirit Championship.

    This is a student-run Chess Club providing fellowship and tactical gameplay.

    The choir program is made up of five class periods:

    • Kantori (3rd period) - Mixed Varsity - auditioned - competitive choir - splits into Varsity Men and Varsity Women - Monday Night Rehearsals (6-8 pm)

    Computer Science Club

    The computer science club meets to expand on the skills taught in the classroom. We also participate in UIL contests throughout the year. You do not have to be in computer science class to join.

    Creative Writing Club

    The club meets to empower students through their writing and improve their speaking and sharing skills by presenting their writing to peers.

    Crochet Club

    Students will learn new skills in crocheting, such as stitches and patterns. The club will work on producing items and projects and donate them to charitable causes.

    Dungeons & Dragons Club

    The D&D Club will meet and allow students to meet and play board games and learn teamwork and problem solving strategies.

    Dance Team, Martinettes

    Come join one of the best organizations on campus! The MCHS Martinettes is full of fun and tradition and an important spirit program here at Mayde Creek. We perform at all football games, pep rallies, and several other school/community events. We spend the spring preparing for competitions and finish the year off with our annual Dance Spring Show

If you took Principles of Human Services in 8th grade, you are eligible to join our chapter. We participate in volunteer activities and plan to begin attending competitions in another year.     FFA is a dynamic and growing youth organization, nearly half-a-million student members strong based in agricultural science education.     Fishers of Teens will serve as a community for Christian students at Mayde Creek High School.

    French Club

    Get involved in French culture…and you don’t have to be in French class! Anyone can join.

    French National Honor Society

    We will meet on the first Thursday of the month during advisory for tutoring. 

    • Requirements: Students must have a 3.0 GPA or higher overall and a 3.75 or higher in French classes. This is only available to French 3 or 4 students.

    Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)

    Learn the business of business through relationships, leadership and career development programs. Monthly projects and simulated competitions can earn students scholarships.     GSA- Gender Sexuality Alliance 

    GSA builds community at school and provides an opportunity for students of all orientations to meet and discuss issues. The club will help to educate students and staff across the campus of issues facing the LGBTQ+ community.

    Legal Scholars Club

    The Legal Scholars Club introduces students to the legal system and provides opportunities for them to learn about pathways to a legal career.

    Liberty in North Korea (LINK)

    To promote awareness of North Korean refugees who face exploitation and capture.

    MCHS Gaming Club

    MCHS GC is an organization where our school competes against other high schools in tournaments. Our club also provides an opportunity for students to meet, discuss, and connect with others about the games that they are passionate about. Our competitions include scholarships to universities, cash prizes, and other incentives. Currently we compete in Valorant, Rocket League, League of Legends, Super Smash Bros., and Smite. There are two competition seasons each year, one in the Fall and one in the Spring. 

    Students looking to compete may incur additional fees depending on the number of competitions they wish to enter and the games they choose to compete in.

    Girls Basketball

    • To play in the program: No prior years of experience necessary. 
    • Try-Outs: Late October *You will need a current physical on file, Dated after 5/3/21* 
    • Basketball Season: October-February 8 

    Come hoop it up at the Creek! We have a knowledgeable and experienced coaching staff here at Mayde Creek not only to teach newcomers but to further develop the skills of any athlete who is a frequent basketball player. The process of basketball is vital, not just the result of winning or losing. We will do everything possible to win, but the character traits derived from basketball in a good program can carry a woman throughout her adult life. Building character traits is an essential aspect of the program. We genuinely feel that the game of basketball is one of the most excellent learning tools that a young person can have. It teaches one never to quit, never to give up, or never to give in. Our players will experience failure and how to respond to the loss positively. Basketball will teach one to face adversity and learn to overcome it. It leads one to work together with many different groups of people to achieve a common goal.

    Golf

    Men's and Women's Golf is a good way to be part of a team and play for Mayde Creek High School. Since we are limited to the amount of quality practice that can be conducted on the grounds here at MCHS, improving your game does require a commitment for transportation to get to and from practice (driving range or golf course) on certain days.

    Health Occupations Student of America H.O.S.A

    Key Club International

    Key Club International is an international community service organization led by high school students. Key Club International is a part of Kiwanis International. Key Club’s goal is to foster leadership by serving others. You may earn Service awards and hours towards RSVP cord to wear on graduation. Community Service looks great on both educational and job résumés. A free t-shirt is included with dues.

    National Art Honor Society

    Membership is based upon art scholarship, service and character. We promote art awareness to the school and the community.  Eligible: Must have 1 year of Art and must be in an upper level art class (sculpture, ceramics, drawing, AP art) must maintain a 3.0GPA overall and a 4.0 in Visual Arts classes. Must maintain 10 service hours per semester to maintain membership.

    Juniors and Seniors may apply. Applicants are screened by the committee during the spring semester of a student’s sophomore and junior year and must maintain a 3.75 GPA. 30 hours of community service are required. A special induction ceremony for new members occurs in April

    • Requirements: open to students during their junior and/or senior years. Applications are available during the spring and will be screened by a committee prior to acceptance. The induction ceremony will take place in April. Must have a 3.75 GPA to apply and will require a minimum of 30 hours of community service each school year they are a member.

    Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC)​

    A leadership and citizenship development program dedicated to building confidence, leadership skill, and physical fitness in high school students. Uniforms are worn weekly. Open to all KISD high school students but meets only at MCHS. Membership in NJROTC can fulfill the graduation PE requirements.

    Orchestra

    Orchestra consists of violin, viola, cello, bass, and piano. 

    The four Orchestras (Sinfonia, Sinfonietta, Lyrica, and Philharmonia) perform 3-7 performances a year including participation in UIL Contests. Beyond performing the Orchestra has regular socials, rehearsals, volunteer opportunities, and a spring trip.

    PALS

    PALs is a mentor program where MCHS students travel to surrounding elementary and junior high schools to mentor kids 1 on 1. Requirements: Students must apply, interview, and give out teacher recommendation forms their sophomore and junior year.

    Passion Project

    Passion project will establish a community of giving and increase students social skills. Students will promote service project and community building initiatives.

    Visual Arts and Animation Laboratory

    If you LOVE visual arts or animation or photography, then this is the club for you! We have monthly contests, weekly features on our Instagram and Twitter accounts, seasonal parties, and an end-of-the-year field trip.

    Robotics Club

    Building robots is a great way to learn about electronics, programming, motors, sensors, and mechanical design. Robotics gives high school students the opportunity to design and build cutting edge robots.  Students learn valuable engineering skills, creativity, innovation, teamwork, and have fun doing it.

    RSVP Rams Student Volunteering Proudly

    This is a community service program where students participating:

    • Become a resource to our community, see the school as a helpful part of the community and the disciplines taught in school integrated into life’s work. 
    • RSVP offers the only approved cord worn at graduation besides academia. All requirements are outlined on the website. There are no meetings and students are responsible for obtaining their own volunteer opportunities. Everyone can participate.

    Science National Honor Society is an honor society for students enrolled in AP Science class. Requirements: Students must apply and meet the standards and pass a selection committee.

    Social Studies Honor Society

    Social Studies Honor Society is for juniors and seniors that excel in the field of Social Studies. Students should have completed at least two core social studies courses, have at least a 3.0 GPA, and demonstrate engagement within their school or community.

    Learn about Spanish-speaking countries and meet new people from different countries. You do not have to be enrolled in Spanish to join. Application available in Room Rm 1304.

    Spanish National Honor Society

    Spanish National Honor Society is a highly recognized organization that continuously promotes the learning of Spanish, encourages leadership, and constantly looks for opportunities to work for the community. 

    Requirements: Future members need to fill out an application, study 3 semesters of Spanish, and must maintain a 3.5 GPA. 30 hours of community service are required (15 hours must be with the Spanish NHS). A special induction ceremony for new members occurs in April.

    Speech & Debate Team

    The National Forensic League is a nationally recognized competitive speech and debate team that competes against other schools in a variety of debate, public speaking, and acting events. It is a lot of fun and a great way to prepare for college. Taking the Debate class is recommended, but not required.

    Student Council 

    Student council shares students’ ideas, interests, and concerns with teachers and principals and raises funds to help school-wide activities, social events, community projects, and people in need. Contact sponsor for info on fees.

    Mayde Creek Theatre/Thespian Troupe #4234

    Mayde Creek Theater produces a full season of plays, musicals, and other theatrical events. You do not need to be enrolled in a theater class to join. Auditions for our shows are always open to all students and we normally rehearse 3-5 Monday through Thursday and a little later on Fridays - sometimes on Saturdays. We will have general troupe meetings each Friday in the Black Box at 2:45 which should only last about 30 minutes.

    UIL Spelling

    Spelling is an immensely important skill. We learn word origins, and expand our knowledge of vocabulary and pronunciation; all of which help us to be successful in the SAT and ACT. We prepare for the invitational and district contests, which will take place in the spring. The written content includes multiple-choice items, proofreading, and spelling. The vocabulary contest involves a multiple-choice format involving vocabulary in context. There is also a pronounced part of the contest where competitors must correctly spell words that are spoken by a pronouncer.
